About St. John's
OUR MISSION
For nearly 150 years, St. John’s Lutheran Church and Preschool has been on mission to glorify God, reach out to the lost, and strengthen the saved to live bold and Christian lives of faith and witness, while striving to minister to those in need in the Woodstock community.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
(Matthew 28:19-20)

OUR VISION
Our vision is to accomplish our mission by growing our support for our Sunday School and Vacation Bible School ministry, our campus and anniversary celebration, our support for and participation in Woodstock community events, and through support for WACM, the local food pantry, and other organizations that help and benefit the needy in our community.
What we Believe
With the universal Christian Church, The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod teaches and responds to the love of the Triune God: the Father, creator of all that exists; Jesus Christ, the Son, who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan; and the Holy Spirit, who creates faith through God's Word and Sacraments. The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.
Being "Lutheran," means we accept and teach the Bible as God’s inspired and inerrant Word. We agree with the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the other reformers can be summarized in three short phrases: Scripture alone, Faith alone, Grace alone.
